Michael Erwin Gansauer, 53, of Swansea, formerly of Centralia, died at 9:22 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2004, at his home.

He was born on Oct. 4, 1950, in Centralia, son of Erwin A. and Helen (Hopkins) Gansauer.

Surviving are two sons, Joshua Gansauer and wife Christina of Swansea and Andrew Gansauer of Centralia; one brother, Thomas Gansauer and wife Angie of Centralia; two sisters, Donna Simmons and husband Vern of Dix and Beverly Kell and husband Dave of Centralia; one grandchild, Cameron Gansauer of Swansea; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece, Kati Simmons.

He was employed in auto sales and lived in Swansea for the last 18 months, moving from Mt. Vernon. Before that, he was a longtime Centralia resident and member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was a past president of the Centralia Chamber of Commerce, past member of the American Diabetes Association local chapter, past chairman of the Centralia Balloon Fest and a member of the Elks. He was former owner of Car City Nissan and Chevrolet Geo.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Irvin Funeral Home with Father David Darin officiating.
